How to Activate on Rockstar

Three ways to redeem your Rockstar key — Launcher, browser, or mobile browser.

Method 1 — Recommended
Rockstar Games Launcher
The Rockstar Games Launcher is the official desktop client for Rockstar titles and the most reliable way to redeem your key. Make sure you have it installed on your PC before getting started.
  1. Open the Rockstar Games Launcher on your computer and sign in to your Social Club account if you aren't already logged in. If you don't have a Rockstar Social Club account yet, you'll need to create one at socialclub.rockstargames.com before you can redeem any keys.
  2. Once inside the launcher, look at the top right corner of the window. You'll see your profile avatar or username displayed there. Click on it to open your account options.
  3. From the dropdown menu that appears, click "Redeem Code." A new input window will open directly within the launcher.
  4. Carefully type or paste your key into the field provided. Rockstar keys are typically a long alphanumeric string, sometimes grouped and separated by dashes. Take your time entering it to avoid any mistakes.
  5. Click "Check" once your key is entered. The launcher will contact Rockstar's servers to verify the code. This usually takes just a few seconds.
  6. If the key is valid, the launcher will display the name of the game or content it unlocks. Review the title carefully to confirm it matches what you purchased.
  7. Click "Confirm" to finalize the redemption. The game or content will be tied to your Rockstar Social Club account permanently from this point forward.
  8. Head to your Library within the launcher, locate the newly added game, and click "Install" to begin the download. Rockstar titles can be large in file size, so make sure you have enough storage space available before starting.
Method 2
Rockstar Games Browser (socialclub.rockstargames.com)
If you prefer not to use the launcher, you can redeem your key through the Rockstar Social Club website on any browser.
  1. Open your preferred browser and navigate to socialclub.rockstargames.com.
  2. Click "Sign In" at the top right corner of the page. Enter your Rockstar Social Club email address and password. If you have two-step verification enabled on your account, you'll be asked to enter a code sent to your registered email or phone number.
  3. Once signed in, hover over or click on your profile avatar in the top right corner of the page. A dropdown menu will appear with several account management options.
  4. From the dropdown, look for and click "Redeem Code." This will take you to Rockstar's dedicated code redemption page.
  5. On the redemption page, you'll find a text input field. Type or paste your key carefully into the box. Make absolutely sure there are no extra spaces before or after the code, as this is one of the most common reasons a valid key fails to activate.
  6. Click "Redeem" and give the page a moment to process your request. Rockstar's servers will validate your key and return a result shortly.
  7. A confirmation message will appear on screen showing the game or content your key is associated with. Take a moment to verify that the title is correct before moving forward.
  8. Confirm the redemption to complete the process. The game will be permanently linked to your Social Club account and will appear in the Rockstar Games Launcher the next time you open it, ready for installation.
Method 3
Rockstar Games Mobile Browser (socialclub.rockstargames.com on mobile)
Rockstar does not currently offer a dedicated mobile app for key redemption, but you can still activate your key through the Social Club website on your phone or tablet's browser.
  1. Open any mobile browser on your device — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or whichever you prefer — and navigate to socialclub.rockstargames.com.
  2. Tap "Sign In" and enter your Social Club account credentials. Complete any two-step verification if it's enabled on your account. Given that Rockstar accounts are often tied to valuable game libraries, keeping two-step verification active is strongly recommended.
  3. Once logged in, tap on your profile avatar in the top right corner of the page. The mobile version of the site may look slightly condensed compared to the desktop version, but all the same options are available.
  4. From the account menu, tap "Redeem Code" to be taken to the redemption page.
  5. Tap the input field and carefully enter your key. If you received your key via email from Good Game Vault, it's a good idea to copy and paste it directly from there rather than typing it manually, as Rockstar keys tend to be longer than those of other platforms and are easier to mistype on a mobile keyboard.
  6. Tap "Redeem" to submit the key. Rockstar's servers will process and validate it within a few seconds.
  7. A confirmation screen will appear showing the game or content your key unlocks. Review it carefully, then confirm to complete the activation.
  8. The game will now be linked to your Social Club account. To download and install it, you'll need to open the Rockstar Games Launcher on your PC, as mobile devices do not support Rockstar game installations directly.
Important things to know about Rockstar: All Rockstar games redeemed through the launcher or Social Club website are tied permanently to your account. Even if you also own the game on Steam, the Rockstar key activates it within the Rockstar ecosystem specifically — meaning you'll need the Rockstar Games Launcher installed to play it, regardless of where you purchased it from.

Some Rockstar titles, particularly Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, require both the Rockstar Games Launcher and an active internet connection for initial activation. Once set up, many titles can be played offline, but the first launch typically requires you to be online.
Troubleshooting
  • "This code has already been redeemed" — The key was previously activated on another account. Please contact our support team immediately with your order number and we'll investigate and resolve it as quickly as possible.
  • "Invalid code" — Go back and check every character in your key carefully, paying close attention to easily confused characters like the number 0 and the letter O, or the number 1 and the letter I. Re-enter the key and try again. If the problem continues, contact our support team.
  • "This code is not valid for your region" — Your key may carry regional restrictions. All region details are listed clearly on the product page at Good Game Vault prior to purchase. If you believe there has been an error, get in touch with us and we'll look into it.
  • "This code has expired" — Some keys carry an expiration date. If you believe your key should still be active, contact our support team right away and we'll work to resolve it.
  • The launcher is not accepting the key — Try signing out and back into the Rockstar Games Launcher, then attempt the redemption again. If the issue persists, try redeeming through the Social Club website instead as an alternative method.
  • The game is not appearing in the launcher after redemption — Fully close and restart the Rockstar Games Launcher. Your library should refresh and the newly redeemed title should appear. If it still doesn't show, sign out and back in to force a library sync.
