How to Activate on GOG

Three ways to redeem your GOG key — Galaxy app, browser, or mobile browser.

Method 1 — Recommended
GOG Galaxy App
GOG Galaxy is the official desktop client for GOG and the most reliable way to redeem and manage your game keys. Make sure you have it installed on your PC before getting started.
  1. Open the GOG Galaxy app on your computer and sign in to your account if you aren't already logged in. If you don't have an account yet, you'll need to create one at gog.com before proceeding.
  2. Once inside the app, look at the top of the window. You'll see a circular GOG logo button in the upper left corner of the app. Click on it to open the main menu.
  3. From the menu that drops down, look for and click "Redeem a Key." A small input window will appear directly within the app.
  4. Carefully type or paste your GOG key into the field provided. GOG keys are typically formatted as groups of letters and numbers separated by dashes, such as: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
  5. Click "Continue" once your key is entered. GOG Galaxy will connect to GOG's servers to verify the key. This process usually takes just a few seconds.
  6. If the key is valid, the app will display the name of the game or content it unlocks. Take a moment to confirm that it matches what you purchased before proceeding.
  7. Click "Redeem" to finalize the activation. The game will be added to your GOG library instantly.
  8. Navigate to your Library, find the newly added game, and click "Install" to begin downloading. You may also choose to download it at a later time — your key is permanently tied to your account from this point forward.
Method 2
GOG Browser (gog.com)
You can redeem your GOG key directly through the GOG website without needing to open the Galaxy app at all.
  1. Open your preferred browser and navigate to gog.com.
  2. Click "Sign In" in the top right corner of the page. Enter your GOG account email and password. If you have two-step login enabled, you'll be asked to verify your identity through a code sent to your email.
  3. Once signed in, move your cursor to your profile name or avatar in the top right corner of the page. A dropdown menu will appear.
  4. From that dropdown, select "Redeem a Key." This will take you to GOG's dedicated key redemption page.
  5. On the redemption page, type or paste your key carefully into the box. Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the code, as even a single stray space can cause the redemption to fail.
  6. Click "Continue" and wait a moment while GOG's servers process and validate your key. The page will update with a result shortly.
  7. A confirmation screen will appear displaying the game or content your key is tied to. Review the title carefully to make sure it's what you expected.
  8. Click "Redeem" to complete the process. The game will be permanently added to your GOG account and will be available to install anytime through GOG Galaxy or as a direct download from the GOG website.
Method 3
GOG Mobile Browser (gog.com on mobile)
Unlike Steam and Epic, GOG does not currently offer a dedicated mobile app for account management or key redemption. However, you can still redeem a key through your mobile browser with ease.
  1. Open any mobile browser on your phone or tablet — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or any browser of your choice — and go to gog.com.
  2. Tap "Sign In" and enter your GOG account credentials. Complete any two-step verification if prompted.
  3. Once logged in, tap on your profile name or avatar in the top right corner. On mobile, the menu may appear slightly different from the desktop version, but the account options remain the same.
  4. From the menu, tap "Redeem a Key" to be taken to the key redemption page.
  5. Tap the input field and carefully type your key. On mobile keyboards, be especially cautious with characters that look similar — the number 0 and the letter O, or the number 1 and the letter I are the most common sources of mistakes. If you received your key via email, copy and paste it directly to avoid typing errors.
  6. Tap "Continue" to submit the key for verification. GOG's servers will validate it and return a result within seconds.
  7. Review the confirmation screen showing the game title your key unlocks, then tap "Redeem" to finalize the activation.
  8. The game will be added to your GOG library. To download and install it, you'll need to switch to a PC and use GOG Galaxy or download the offline installer directly from the GOG website, as mobile devices do not support game installations through GOG.
What makes GOG different: GOG is a DRM-free platform. Once you redeem your key and download your game, you own it outright. You can install it as many times as you want, on as many personal machines as you need, without ever needing to be online or connected to GOG's servers to play. GOG Galaxy is entirely optional — it's simply a convenient launcher, not a requirement.
Troubleshooting
  • "This key has already been used" — The key was previously activated on another account. Contact our support team with your order details and we'll look into it straight away.
  • "This key is invalid" — Check every character carefully and try re-entering the key. If the problem persists, reach out to our customer support and we'll help resolve it.
  • "This product is not available in your country" — Your key may have regional restrictions. All region information is listed on the product page before purchase. If you think there's been a mistake, contact us and we'll sort it out.
  • "This key has expired" — Some keys carry expiration dates. If you believe your key should still be valid, get in touch with our support team immediately.
  • GOG is not accepting the key at all — Try refreshing the page or restarting GOG Galaxy, then attempt the redemption again. If the issue continues, our support team is here to help.
